3. MOUILLE POINT LIGHTHOUSE

3. CRYSTAL TOWERS


This memorable hotel is located in Century City and was designed by Vivid architects. The bold white rectangular outlines of the two towers connected by a floating pool give this building great poise.





4. THE COMPANY GARDENS


"The Company Gardens" is the original vegetable garden of the Dutch settlers to the Cape and retains many historical landmarks. The cape town castle and City Hall, are two historical buildings within walking distance. The planetarium and South African National Art Gallery are other places of interest.In the centre of the Garden are three memorials opposite the National Gallery. At the heart of the company gardens lies a statue commemorating English and Afrikaans soldiers who fought in Delville wood in France. The statue has 8 columns, a horse and two male figures. It was built in 1930 and has since been insribed with memomerials to South African soldiers who died in World War II.





5. CITY HALL


Built from limestone imported from England in 1905, this Edwardian in style building is in use today as a public building. It's detailed facade behind tall palm trees is typical of South African 1900's public buildings. It is located adjacent to the colourful Grand Parade near the Company Gardens.

6. BOSCHENDAL MANOR HOUSE


This national treasure is located between the picturesque towns of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek, just an hours drive from Cape Town central. The rounded sliding sash windows, thatch roof and curved gable are typical of the Cape Dutch style. The home's setting in front of the Groot Drakenstein mountain range, makes it one of the most photogenic Cape Dutch buildings, and a great place to enjoy wine tasting and the restaurant that are situated in the historical outbuildings of the manor house.

7. VERGELGEN WINE FARM


The place is significant to see not only for the cluster of heritage architecture buildings, but also for the hexagonal walled garden and 300 year old Camphor trees. The Stable restaurant, is one of two restaurants on the Estate, and bought picnics as well as stunning outdoor childrens play area, make this worth the hours drive from the city centre.




8. THE SANCTUARY SOMERSET WEST


Equipped with its own solar electrical supply, the building also has borehole water supply to the toilets, making it a trully self-sufficient modern builing. Aethetically, the design also interacts well with it's environment, with high performance glazing reflecting the natural wetland that it stands upon. Located in the satellite town of Somerset West, it was designed by SVA international architects and opened its doors in 2016.





9. WATERWAY HOUSE


Designed by well-known firm of Cape Town architects - DHK, the building exemplifies their style with its subtle colour tones and strong vertical facade features. Also making use of many green architecture principles, the design is at once functionally suited and visually compelling.
