NO 1. RUSTENBERG MANOR HOUSE

Located on the north side of Stellenbosch this is one of the hidden gems that most tourists don't get to see. It includes vast tracts of farmlands and a beaufitul Cape Dutch garden.






NO 2. BABYLONSTOREN

HOUSE WITH SHUTTERS

The home has a central door with no windows on this side, as well as two doors on each flanking wing. All have shutters in almost a modern design. The gable to was re-invented in modern times, because the original design was lost in a fire. One of the most pleasing looking of the Cape Dutch houses. NO 3. LA DAUPHINE

HIDDEN GEM
Located on the north side of Stellenbosch this is one of the hidden gems that most tourists don't get to see. It includes vast tracts of farmlands and a beaufitul Cape Dutch garden. See also





NO 4.RUST EN VREDE


Tucked away in a forest area on the slopes of Helderberg Mountain lies Rust en Vrede. A beautiful historical house that has been updated with a modern seamless glass main door.



NO 5. NEETHLINGSHOF


This lovely building has a soft and well proportioned gable in the neoclassicl style. One of the few Cape Duth houses to have flat arched windows and doors - Boschendal Manor House being the other one.

NO 6. SCHOONGEZICHT


The beautiful large oak trees surround this house without covering the facade. The gable has a small window in it and the front door stands alone with no narrow windows either side.

NO 7. STONEWALL


A long building with an elegant gable with an arched window in it. The main cellar door is also arched, and the windows lie higher than the door which is quite unusual. The low werf wall is typical of the style, and is placed a little off center. NO 8. WEBERSBURG


The gable is somewhat heavy, and the windows a little busy with all the shutters. Despite this, the home is stately as its stand on top of its plinth on a small hillock.

NO 9. ZEVENWACHT

NATIONAL TREASURE IN KUILSRIVER
This stunning example of the style has formed the prototype for many Cape Dutch houses to follow in later centuries. The fanlight of the door protrudes higher than the windows creating a sense of hierarchy.








NO 10. VERGELGEN


The gable is relatively narrow compared to some other houses in the style. The light yellow walls instead of pure white are also somewhat unusual, but Nederburg is another example.
