FUN ON THE WEEKEND FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY IN CAPE TOWN

Looking for something to do on a Sunday on a reasonable budget? Whether it is water sports, train rides, shopping at markets or eating out, this site is your guide for the best fun to be in Cape Town whether you have children or not.

TAKING A CRUISE JUST OFF CAMPS BAY

NO 1. KAYAKING

A VERY POPULAR SPORT

Places to go kayaking abound in and around Cape Town. This is good exercise but also a very relaxing way to get in contact with nature. This particular photograph was taken at the Elgin River lodge just an hour and a half from the city centre of Cape Town.

Go here for how this might be named the best cable car ride in the world.

NO 2. EATING AT A WINE FARM

Enjoy your lunch
Wine farms not only welcome visitors for wine tasting, many of them have top class restaurants with reasonable prices and stunning views. Shown here... a delicious beef strip salad from Eikdenal on the slopes of Helderberg Mountain.

NO 6. LISTEN TO CAPE MINSTRELS

At the V & A Waterfront
There are always street performers vying for your attention at the Alfred and Victoria Waterfront. A yearly event takes place known as the Cape Carnival, when the streets of Cape Town are filled with song. Tip generously please.

7. PONY RIDES AT POLKADRAAI

If you love contact with animals, you will definitely enjoy the pony rides at Polkadraai strawberry farm. Available for children and small adults.

8. KITESURFING

Favourite spots for the sport include Sunrise Beach near Muizenberg, and Blouberg Strand and surrounds. The wind is always blowing here and the gear and enthuisiam are available. Go to surfer's corner, or one of the many shops along Blouberg Beach area.

9. TAKE A SIGHTSEEING TOUR

...on the City Sightseeing Bus
These red buses have been seen around Cape Town for over a decade and were created to show visitors the most important attractions in the city center and also in the nearby vicinity. Leave the worries about traffic and parking with the driver while you make international friends and take priceless photos.

8. GO FISHING

The Cape Coast is teaming with edible fish, and for the most part you are allowed to eat them. This photo was taken at Strand Beach looking towards Gordon's Bay. Remember your beach umbrella, hat, sunscreen and snacks.

9. VIEW ART AND SCULPTURES

It has become a trend in Cape Town, to place highly imaginative sculputures in among the gardens, and wine farms and other sightseeing attractions in the cape. This colourful rhinoceros was spotted at the V & A Waterfront.
